Thank you for stopping by! U Me Us Studios is a boutique photography company headed by the husband-and-wife duo, Evonne Wong and Darren Wong, who specialize in local and destination weddings and lifestyle portraits. We created this blog as an extension of our company, featuring some of our most recent work, and providing an opportunity for our friends and clients to gain insight to our team and our philosophy.
U Me Us Studios is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, and we photograph all over Northern California including Napa Valley, Sonoma, Healdsburg, Lake Tahoe, as well as Carmel, Monterey, Santa Cruz. We also photograph in Southern California including Malibu, Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego.
We LOVE to travel and are available worldwide for your destination weddings! We have photographed weddings both domestically and internationally, including Hawaii (Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Lanai, Big Island), Lake Tahoe, Philadelphia, Bali, Hong Kong, and Mexico (Cabo San Lucas).
This awesome San Jose family portraits session was such a blast. We met Esther and Nick at April and Collin’s 10-year vow renewal in Half Moon Bay just a few months prior to this session. They are very good college friends and it was nice for Darren and I to get to know their family as well.
Ayden and Elliott are such fun boys… we started out the session in their backyard and we let them play some football to get warmed up to being photographed. We love the Fall colors as some of their trees started turning into orange. Since they also have a fire pit in the backyard, we suggested that they make some s’mores and the photos turned out great. We ended the session at a beautiful lake not too far from their house. The lighting was absolutely amazing and we all had such a great time! We can’t wait to see the Tran family again soon!
When it comes to choosing your wedding florals, you may have a few colors in mind, but do you know what flowers are in season during your wedding day? I know we all LOVE the soft, romantic look of peonies, but unless you are getting married any time between late April and June, they are very expensive during the “off season” or they may not even be available at all.
You will be in good hands if the floral designer is able to present you with different ideas that complement your colors and style, and can personalize to your wants, needs and also work within your budget. At the end of the day whichever floral designer you decide to go with, you have to be able to trust him/her with all the floral details and how he/she will tell your story through your colors and florals.
Just like your other wedding vendors, it’s a matter of trust so the more details and information you can share with the floral designer (especially with the event aesthetics you’d prefer and the atmosphere/ambiance you are looking for), the right floral designer will be able to make your vision come to life. Also be open-minded with the discussion with the floral designer as sometimes he/she can come up with an idea that you may have never considered before.
Since we talked about the Red Carpet during the Golden Globe Awards, of course we are not going to miss the Oscar fashion from last night! My absolute favorite dress was Giuliana Rancic’s gown by Paolo Sebastian. He is now one of my favorite gown designers of 2014! And look at Kate Hudson in her gorgeous low-cut beaded Atelier Versace gown, which evoked old Hollywood glam… love that cape as well!
I also love Laura Dern’s simple, elegant gown by Alberta Ferretti, and Portia de Rossi’s sheer ivory honey-combed halter gown by Naeem Khan. They both looked absolutely stunning.
Another one of my favorite was Charlize Theron’s beautiful black Christian Dior Haute Couture gown. She always looks great in anything that she wears! I am not too sure about the J. Mendel dress that Anna Kendrick wore, with mesh panels, floral patterned stomach detail, a criss-crossed back and a thigh-high slit. It seems like there was just a little too much going on with that dress.
Anne Hathaway always looks stylish and of course she looked stunning in her black and silver mosaic Gucci column dress. Emma Watson looked mature and beautiful in her see-through metallic Vera Wang Collection dress. It’s great to see Hermione is all grown up now!
This year we see a lot of gold, nude and metallic gowns. Cate Blanchett, the Best Actress winner, looked amazing in her intricately beaded Armani Prive gown. Hot mama – Jenna Dewan-Tatum definitely stole the spotlight in her sparkling feather Reem Acra gown, another one of my favorite. She just had a baby less than a year ago and look at her incredible body! Sarah Paulson walked down the red carpet in a gold Elie Saab Haute Couture dress. It’s not one of my favorite gowns, but she looked elegant in it.
Angelina Jolie also donned on an Elie Saab Haute Couture sparkly gown. She’s always stunning in whatever she wears. With Brad Pitt by her side, they have to be one of the most gorgeous couple in the world! I love Jenny Packham, but not the flapper-era style shimmering gown that Julie Delpy wore last night. For some reason that dress didn’t look flattering on Julie at all. Maria Menounos looked beautiful in the white beaded romantic Johanna Johnson sleeved gown. Love the little flare at the bottom of the dress.
Dark navy blue also seems to be a popular color on the red carpet this year. Amy Adams designed this strapless gown with Gucci, which featured faux pockets at the hips, flaps on the chest and a small train that trailed behind her. Although navy blue is not my favorite color, I do love Sandra Bullock’s Alexander McQueen‘s satin gown. It featured a sweetheart neckline, dramatic draping and a subdued elegance that accentuates her body. I also love her sideswept curls which looked perfect with that dress.
More shimmery dresses… Jennifer Garner rocked her silver tulle tiered fringe gown with micro bugle and bead embroidery by Oscar de la Renta. Jessica Biel looked eye-catching in her metallic strapless Chanel Couture dress.
And then, there’s the pastel colors… Best Supporting Actress winner, Lupita Nyong’o looked ethereal in a light blue silk Prada gown with crystal-embellished pleats and a deep v-neck. Penelope Cruz looked stunning in her flowy pink Giambattista Valli gown although some people didn’t like her dress. What do you think?
Jennifer Lawrence has always been a Christian Dior Haute Couture fan, and this year was no exception when she donned on a simple strapless orangey-red gown. Mom-to-be Kerry Washington beautifully showed off her baby bump (and pregnancy glow) in a strapless light purple Jason Wu gown. Naomi Watts looked elegant wearing a white embroidered Calvin Klein Collection dress.
I am a huge Monique Lhuillier fan, but I am not feeling it with Chrissy Teigen’s black and pink confetti petal print silk canvas strapless high-low gown although it’s cool to have pockets in a formal gown! I am also not crazy about Julia Robert’s black lace column peplum gown by Givenchy Couture. So which is your favorite gown?
